01
Who we are
MyAdmissionLink Educational Consult Ltd (“MyAdmissionLink”, “we”, “us”) is an education consultancy that helps students apply to universities in the United Kingdom and other countries. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, meaning we decide how and why it is used.
Registered company name
MyAdmissionLink Educational Consult Ltd, incorporated in Nigeria (CAC RC 1600669)
Office address
No 8 Abdulrasaq Street, GRA, Ilorin, Nigeria
This policy applies to our website, the UK admission landing page and eligibility form, our WhatsApp and phone conversations, our email communications, and the consultation and application services we provide.
02
What we collect
The data we collect depends on how far you take the process with us.
We do not ask for sensitive data on the eligibility form. If we need sensitive information later, for example health information needed for a visa, we will tell you why and ask for your consent first.
03
How we use your data
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (“NDPA”), we must have a lawful basis for each use of your data. These are ours:
We do not make decisions about you using fully automated processing that has a legal or similarly significant effect. Admission and visa decisions are made by universities and immigration authorities, not by us.
05
International transfers
Because you are applying to study abroad, your data will be sent outside Nigeria, mainly to the United Kingdom and to countries where our service providers operate. Where we transfer your data, we do so only as the NDPA allows. We rely on the destination’s level of data protection, contractual safeguards with the recipient, or your informed consent. A university receiving your application will handle it under its own privacy notice, which it should give you.
07
Messages & marketing
After you complete the eligibility form, we will contact you by WhatsApp, phone and email about your enquiry. If you agreed to marketing, we will also send you a series of emails about studying in the UK, such as course choice, costs, scholarships and intake deadlines.
You can stop marketing at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email, replying STOP to a WhatsApp message, or contacting us using the details below. Service messages that relate to an application already in progress may still be sent.
WhatsApp is operated by Meta. When you message us there, Meta processes your data under its own terms and privacy policy.
08
How long we keep it
We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes above.
- Eligibility enquiries that do not become a client file: kept only for as long as we need to follow up with you, then deleted or anonymised.
- Client application files: kept for the length of our service, and afterwards only for as long as we need them to meet record-keeping, tax and other legal obligations.
- Marketing preferences and unsubscribe records: kept so that we honour your choice.
When we no longer need the data, we delete or anonymise it.
09
Security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access limited to staff who need it, and agreements with providers that handle data for us. No online system is completely secure. If a breach affecting your data creates a risk to you, we will notify you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission as the law requires.
10
Your rights
Under the NDPA you have the right to:
- Be informed about how your data is used (this policy).
- Access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy.
- Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your data, where we no longer need it or have no lawful reason to keep it.
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing.
- Receive your data in a portable format where the law allows.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what we did before you withdrew.
- Not be subject to solely automated decisions with significant effects.
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 13. We may need to verify your identity first, and we aim to respond as soon as possible. Some rights have exceptions, for example where we must keep records by law. If so, we will explain why.
11
Under-18s
Our services are intended for people aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must complete the form and give consent on your behalf. If we learn that we hold a child’s data without that consent, we will delete it.
12
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when our services or the law change. We will post the new version here with a new “last updated” date, and where a change is significant we will tell you directly.
